Proof Read Paragraph Please?

Peter Singer points out several reasonable accusations about the relationship between animals and humans. Humans do have a “false consciousness of superiority”, and clearly abuse it. As seen in the past and present, animals are mistreated due to the fact that they are thought to be, reasonless, speechless and well “not of our kind”. According to U.S. News & World Report, December, 6, 1999, fighting was illegal in Oklahoma until 1963, when a judge ruled that chickens are not animals and therefore unprotected by anti-cruelty laws. This proves that our knowledge of life around us is tainted, tainted in a way we find animals fighting each other amusing. If humans were to fight to the death involuntarily, I'm sure every government in every state would outlaw such cruelty, but that's right, we're “humans” we have feelings, reason, and suffer, but animals don't. The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but rather, "Can they suffer?" as Jeremy Bentham would say. Animals do suffer because of humans, and with the right mentality on this topic several things can be changed to better these animals.
