Tim Witherspoon vs Jimmy Ellis?

This actually could be a pretty good fight even though it could also be a yawner, no offense intended of course. Ellis was a fine boxer with average power. He had some battles with folks like Quarry, Frazier, and Ali during his career with mostly unfavorable results. Witherspoon was a very hard hitting heavyweight and almost defeated the then undefeated Larry Holmes in a title fight losing by split decision. I think that Witerspoon would applie effective pressure and have a defensive minded Ellis on the ropes a lot during this fight. Ellis would effectively use his jab from the outside but Witherspoon would not allow him to control the fight keeping inside pressure. Witherspoon by unanimous decision.
